| Friday, 24 January, 2003, 17:58 GMT Blockbusters centre stage at Superbowl ![]() The new Charlie's Angles film will get an airing Hollywood will take advantage of the US's 130 million-strong Superbowl TV audience to advertise its biggest new movies. Nearly half of the country is expected to tune in for the 37th annual American football final on Sunday. Film studios will use the event to give cinemagoers their first look at major films such as The Hulk and the sequels to The Matrix and Charlie's Angels. Arnold Schwarzenegger, promoting Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, will introduce the match with a taped message.
Schwarzenegger will also be at the game and have a strong on-air presence during the broadcast. Other adverts will include a 60-second trailer for Warners' Matrix sequels, Reloaded and Revolutions, revealing new shots of the films' main action sequences. Universal will unveil The Hulk with a 30-second advert showing the giant green-coloured character rampaging through the streets of San Francisco. The studio will also use the broadcast to promote its upcoming Jim Carrey comedy Bruce Almighty.
And a new 30-second teaser for Columbia's Charlie's Angels sequel, Full Throttle, will be shown. The studios are paying on average $2.1m (�1.3m) for a 30-second commercial during ABC's broadcast of the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. With Hollywood spending hundreds of millions of dollars on its summer blockbusters, the Superbowl has become one of its key marketing campaigns.
