The prosecution wants psychiatric reports compiled on Mark Corner

Mark Corner appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Hanane Parry and Pauline Stephen on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Body parts of Miss Parry, from Chester and Miss Stephen, of Skelmersdale, Lancashire, were found dumped in bin bags in an alleyway in the Everton area of the city earlier this year.

Corner, 26, from Walton, Liverpool, had denied murdering the women.

The defendant is currently being held at Liverpool's Ashworth Hospital, and spoke in the court only to confirm his plea.

Prosecuting barrister Gordon Cole called for psychiatric reports on Corner to be compiled, and then a decision will then be made on whether to accept Corner's plea.

Pauline Stephen's dismembered body was found in a bin bag

If prosecutors do not accept the diminished responsibility plea a murder trial could still go ahead.

The case has been adjourned until the psychiatric reports have been completed.

The dismembered bodies of Miss Parry and Miss Stephen were found in St Domingo Vale on Sunday 20 July.

It led detectives initially to advise other prostitutes to avoid the area, while their investigations were carried out.

Officers also handed out personal safety advice and personal attack alarms to the prostitutes.
