Rooney failed to score in his team's 2-1 defeat
Officials from Everton FC were meeting police on Tuesday to discuss allegations that Wayne Rooney spat at rival fans.

The 17-year-old England striker is alleged to have spat on the pitch in the direction of Liverpool fans sitting in the Lower Bullens Road stand.

Liverpool eventually won Saturday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park 2-1.

Police and club officials were viewing a video of the incident which is alleged to have taken place in the second half.

Merseyside Police said there were sufficient witnesses and it did not need anyone else to come forward.

The Football Association said it would wait for the official match report before commenting on the game.
