Noel Gallagher spoke to the BBC ahead of the disrupted concert Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher has promised 70,000 fans their money back after two major power cuts during their gig in Manchester. Technical problems plagued the band's first homecoming gig at Heaton Park on Thursday night, with the show being disrupted for half an hour. Fans paid £45 for tickets for the show, the first time Oasis had performed in Manchester in four years. Noel said: "Thank you very very much, this is a free gig - let's have it. "Anybody who has kept their ticket will get a full refund." If all fans returned their tickets, it would cost at least £3m to fully refund them. Liam and Noel tell the crowds they'll get their money back after the power cuts Some fans, however, said they would not be asking for a refund because they said it was still "well worth it". One fan told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think we got our money's worth, okay, there were a few problems but they played some brilliant songs. "Champagne Supernova - it gets me every time." Another said: "It was well worth it in the end, we got a bit annoyed when we had to stand around waiting for half an hour but they were brilliant." Organisers had been planning for six months and said the event was the biggest to hit Heaton Park since the Pope's visit in 1982. SJM Concerts said the concerts would be a "celebration of Manchester". Oasis, fronted by Burnage-raised brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, returned to Manchester as part of their Dig Out Your Soul world tour.
