Baby boom for Sharks rugby team
All but two of the players have had daughters

Half of the Greater Manchester rugby union team Sale Sharks have become fathers in the past eight months.

A total of seven players, two coaches and the club's manager have all had new arrivals in the recent baby boom.

Director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre, head coach Kingsley Jones and rugby manager Paul Smith had daughters.

Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe, Oriol Ripol, Stuart Turner, Lionel Faure and Steve Hanley also had girls - only Chris Bell and Sebastian Bruno's wives had boys.

Former players Jason Robinson, Barry Stewart and Andy Titterrell and former chief executive Niels de Vos, who all left Sharks at the end of last season, also become fathers in the last eight months.

Kingsley Jones said the boom could be down to many of the players being off the pitch with injuries.

"I'm guessing it's because they have been spending a lot of time at home," he said.
