Vigil marks abolition anniversary
A vigil marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade has been held in Greater Manchester.

The event on Sunday, outside Manchester Cathedral, was attended by council officials and church leaders.

Prayers were held and speeches made during the vigil to highlight modern forms of slavery, such as the use of child labour and people trafficking.

An exhibition marking the anniversary of the abolition is on display at the cathedral until the end of October.
