Boxer Amir Khan is to face a trial on a charge of dangerous driving.

Khan, 19, of Lostock, near Bolton, has pleaded not guilty to the charge relating to a crash in which a pedestrian suffered a broken leg.

Khan was arrested in June following the incident in March at Bradshawgate in Bolton town centre.

He appeared at Bolton Crown Court to enter his plea and a trial date was fixed for 23 April next year. The trial is expected to last three days.

Khan, who is widely tipped to win a world title, shot to fame at the 2004 Athens Olympics when he won a silver medal.

He signed a reported 1m contract to turn professional and has yet to be beaten in the ring as a pro.
