Peter Kay's 'cheese...cake?' could be on the walk of fame |
One of comic Peter Kay's famous catchphrases could be set into the pavement in his home town of Bolton. "Put t'big light on" or "garlic bread?" are expected to be among the suggestions to be inscribed on a plaque and set on a "walk of fame".
Residents have put forward ideas for the Bolton In Its Own Words project.
Other quotes could include "first the dream" by architect Thomas H Mawson and "Come on you whites", the cry of Bolton Wanderers' fans.
A total of 83 suggestions have been made by residents and can include lyrics, poetry, prose or common sayings which "reflect Bolton, or life from a Bolton point of view".
The plaques will be set at intervals on Churchgate, before being set into the ground at Deansgate, on a "walk of fame".

Kay, who still lives locally, is a favourite to be included in the project.
Other famous Boltonians include Hylda Baker, DJ Sara Cox, inventor Samuel Crompton, footballer Nat Lofthouse, Lord Leverhulme, Fred Dibnah, poet Hovis Presley and comedian Dave Spikey.
Up to 175 letters are allowed on each plaque including the source of the work, its title, author's details and date.
A spokesman for Bolton Council said it would be something that the citizens of the town would create.
Each quote chosen will have the person's name inscribed on the plaque along with their contribution.
The project is part of a wider regeneration scheme of the town centre.
