A luxury cruise liner is setting sail from the picturesque Scottish town of Oban for the industrial waterways of Salford for the first time next month. Passengers on the Hebridean Princess ship will pay nearly �3,000 to sail on the seven-night cruise.
The routes starts from the west coast of Scotland on 7 July, passing the Isle of Man before reaching the Manchester Ship Canal and Salford Quays.
It will be the first time a cruise liner has visited the canal.
The Salford Quays area was subjected to vast regeneration in the 1990s.

Passengers will visit the Imperial War Museum North and The Lowry Theatre as well as having time to take a tour of Manchester city centre. Captain Dan Morgan, Harbour Master of the Manchester Ship Canal Company, said: "We are delighted to welcome Princess this July.
"This is a first for the Manchester Ship Canal and will serve to set standards for future visits."
