For richer for poorer - couples get marriage advice from the clergy |
The Bishop of Manchester and his wife will pass on the secrets of a long and happy marriage at The National Wedding Show in Manchester. The Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch and his wife, Celia, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
The couple will share their experiences with visitors to the two-day event at Manchester's G-Mex centre.
They will be joined by clergymen and women from the Church of England who will give advice on church weddings.
Couples from Greater Manchester will be able to find their local church at the touch of a button with a specially devised online parish postcode finder.
Greater Manchester's 56,422 postcodes have been matched to the region's 350 churches to create a web-based database which will help couples contact their local church.
Bishop Nigel said: "A Church of England wedding has significance beyond the wedding day itself.
"Many of our parishes offer pre-marriage courses, and the support and care of local clergy and the local church community can be invaluable in the years ahead.
"You don't have to come to church regularly to be able to get married in your local church."
The Church of England has 350 parishes in Greater Manchester and 16,000 across the country.
The show runs from 6-8 February.
