Teenager murdered in bakery shop

A teenager has died after being attacked by a customer in a bakery shop in south-east London.

Jimmy Mizen, who was 16 on Friday, was fatally injured in the shop on Burnt Ash Hill, Hither Green, after being assaulted on Saturday.

Police said the teenager, who lived in the area, was involved in an argument with a youth who then attacked him.

London Ambulance Service were also called to the incident but the youngster died at the scene.

Eyewitness Matthew Fletcher, who lives nearby, said he had seen the attack in the shop.

He said: "I was in my house and I heard a smash. I looked out of the window and saw a boy in his early twenties and suddenly I saw him with a sign smashing the shop door, kicking it through.

"He's forced his way into the shop, run behind the counter and was hitting somebody with the sign.

"I see somebody in a blue polo top trying to stop him. That went on for a minute and then suddenly he came running out of the shop.

"He's started sprinting off up the road."

Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons, from the Metropolitan Police, said: "This is another tragic incident where a young victim has lost his life, and our sympathies are with his family and friends.

"There was an argument between Jimmy and the suspect, following which Jimmy was assaulted and he sustained serious neck injuries.

"The suspect, described as a male youth, made off from the scene up Burnt Ash Hill towards Burnt Ash Lane.

"I would urge anyone who was in and around the Burnt Ash Hill area at the time of the incident to call us at our incident room with any information they may have."
