TV host's family to identify body

Family members had been appealing to Mr Speight to contact them

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on the body of a man believed to be the missing children's TV host Mark Speight.

The family of the 42-year-old will also formally identify his body, which was discovered at London's Paddington railway station on Sunday.

Mr Speight was last seen on 7 April and was said to be devastated following his fiancee Natasha Collins' death.

An inquest into Mr Speight's death will be held on Wednesday.

Ms Collins died on 3 January after taking cocaine, sleeping tablets and alcohol.

The 31-year-old was found with 60% burns from boiling water in the bath at the couple's flat in St John's Wood, north-west London.

An inquest recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.

British Transport Police confirmed a man's body was discovered in a "remote part of Paddington Station" at 1000 BST on Sunday.

Officers have not revealed how he died but did confirm he had not been hit by a train and that they were treating the death as "unexplained".

Jan Kennedy, of Billy Marsh Associates, the presenter's agent, said: "We are absolutely devastated at the tragic news of the loss of Mark and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as the family of his beloved fiancee, Natasha, whose equally tragic death had affected him so inconsolably."

A friend had described how Mr Speight, originally from Wolverhampton, had been planning a charity concert as a tribute to his late fiancee.

Mr Speight had been arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs following the discovery of Miss Collins' body.

However, no charges were brought.
