Arsenal's birthplace pulled down
Highbury construction site
Highbury, another Arsenal vestige, is also being redeveloped
A south-east London pub credited with being the birthplace of Arsenal football club has been pulled down.

The Pullman, formerly the Royal Oak, next to Woolwich Arsenal Station in Woolwich has made way for the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) expansion.

According to club lore, 15 founding members met in the pub on Christmas Day in 1886 and officially adopted the name Royal Arsenal.

Work on Woolwich Arsenal Station is expected to be completed by early 2009.
