One-day Tube strike called off
Oxford Circus during a Tube strike
Two 24-hour walkouts had been planned
The threat of a Tube strike has been averted after headway was made in talks to improve industrial relations.

The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union has joined rail union Aslef in pulling out of a planned 24-hour walkout on Thursday.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said London Underground (LU) bosses agreed to negotiation and consultation, including referral to Acas.

LU said it is happy the strike was called off and it will continue talks.

Mr Crow added: "LU confirmed that current procedures will continue and that any local interpretations, which have caused such difficulties, will now be withdrawn."

Aslef pulled out on Monday, as it said a walkout would be unhelpful and could harm talks with LU.

The row covers various issues from LU's policy on signals passed at danger (Spads), to health and safety, alleged harassment and bargaining arrangements.

Last week, the unions called off the first of two co-ordinated 24-hour walkouts following talks.
