Tube strikes by drivers tend to cause chaos |
More London Underground workers have voted to strike in a row over industrial relations. Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union employed as station staff and signallers backed walkouts by almost two to one.
Drivers belonging to the RMT and to Aslef are due to strike on 2 March but talks will be held on Monday in a bid to avert the action.
The unions called off a strike planned for Tuesday after talks last week.
Both the RMT and Aslef had accused LU of a breakdown in industrial relations and the RMT's General Secretary Bob Crow had said there was a sense managers were trying to "break the unions".
"We are due to talk to LU again on Monday and we hope that the progress made in last week's meeting can be built on," he added.
"However, should it become necessary for us to schedule further action, the executive has already made it clear that it will discuss how best to co-ordinate action by all those now involved in the dispute."
But LU has said the company was committed to resolving disputes through consultation and negotiation, as well as a "culture of fairness and trust" between managers, staff and unions.
