Extra carriages will increase capacity by 17% |
A reduced service is running again on London Underground's Jubilee Line, which has been completely shut down since Christmas Eve. The line was closed to allow for an extra carriage to be added to all the trains, making room for an extra 6,000 passengers at rush hour.
Work was completed two days ahead of schedule but Neasden station in north London is still shut.
A full service will resume from 8 January, as originally planned.
There will be a further four trains added to the fleet, increasing it to 63.
The Jubilee Line will also receive a full line upgrade to increase capacity by 45% in 2009.
The line, which is the newest on the Tube network, carries about 406,000 people each weekday.
