Estate goes green over recycling
Recycling collections on a south London council estate have risen by 450% after a doorstep recycling scheme was introduced in September.

Paper, tins and other recyclable materials are now collected directly from the homes of residents living in Clapham Park estate high rise flats.

Organisers said success was a result of a more accessible service and educating residents about the environment.

Residents were given a starter pack, leaflets and recycling bags.

Elise Bapor, who has lived on the estate for five years,, said: "My son motivated me to get involved in the project because he is very interested in the environment.

"I've never lived in a place that's had a recycling scheme and I think it's great."

Sarah Coyte, of the Clapham Park Project , said: "informing and educating the residents about the impact their waste has on the environment, has made them think and act responsibly about how they dispose of it."
