An exhibition celebrating about 75 years of original cartoons about London is to open. Mayor Ken Livingstone will open London Laughs at the Political Cartoon Gallery in the West End on Wednesday.
It features 50 cartoons featuring London landmarks and issues dating back to the 1930s.
Cartoons depicting the events of 7 July will also be on show to draw comparisons with attacks on London by the Luftwaffe and the IRA.
Featured artists include Hogarth and James Gillray through to today's leading cartoonists like Steve Bell, Dave Brown, Martin Rowson and Peter Brookes.
Tim Benson, of the Political Cartoon Gallery, said: "London, of course, is the spiritual home of the political cartoonist and still leads the field.
"From Hogarth, Gillray and Rowlandson to Strube, Low and Vicky through to Rowson, Brookes and MAC, we have been blessed with many fine cartoonists with a great eye for political goings on."
The exhibition sponsored by the London Communications Agency, runs from the 14 September to 10 November.
