The film will be shown later this year

Some 40 people will be shooting a short movie at the Crossness Pumping Station in Abbey Wood, south-east London.

It is part of a project called The Reel Bollywood in which the group worked with a Bollywood choreographer, music producer and film crew.

The film, made by 11 to 21-year-olds from the Bourne Estate, central London, is about tensions between residents.

The estate in Holborn has continually encountered problems between young and old residents as well as ongoing racial tensions.

Building relationships

Project director Jess Tyrrell said: "This project is about building relationships between different groups of young people on the estate and challenging some of the negative stereotypes that exist.

"It is also about pulling the community together in a common experience where young people are viewed in a positive light rather than as a threat."

The group worked with composer Niraj Chag to compose their own original score.

Then choreographer Chix Chandaria helped them learn Bollywood dance and choreography and the Big Yellow Feet Film Company gave them experience of working on a film set.

The film, made in conjunction with the Holborn Community Development Project, will receive a public screening later this year.
