The centres offer homeless people support over Christmas

Crisis says its racing against time to find empty units which can be turned into centres offering homeless people medical services and companionship.

The organisation says one of the buildings needs to be about the size of a football pitch and the other two must be 20,000 to 30,000 square feet.

The units need to be free throughout December and early January.

Tim Edwards, Crisis Open Christmas project manager said: "Christmas is fast approaching and we urgently need to find a venue for our shelters.

"Homeless people depend upon this vital service and it hinges on us finding suitable venues such as a big warehouse or office shell.

"If you know somewhere that may be suitable, please give us a call and help us make a difference to over a thousand homeless people this Christmas."

Crisis says it will cover the cost of all utility bills and hand the building back in the same condition it receives it.
