The company says its compensation scheme is "generous" |
Commuters who suffered delays caused by storms across London last week are to be offered compensation. South West Trains transports 200,000 people into London's Waterloo Station every day, and 80,000 in the rush hour.
It has said it will offer refunds above its passenger charter, after thousands of travellers were delayed last Tuesday after havoc on its services.
There will be a refund on single fares, 50% for returns, and half-day refunds for weekly season ticket holders.
And commuters with monthly or annual season tickets will have an extra day added when they renew them.
"Following the major disruption caused by the severe weather on 3 August, South West Trains is offering compensation to customers over and above the terms of its Passengers' Charter," a company spokesman said.
During the floods, which brought chaos across London, Waterloo station was closed due to overcrowding.
