District council to cut 47 posts

East Lindsey District Council has announced it will cut 47 posts as part of plans to make up a 2.5m deficit in its budget.

Executive Councillor Colin Davie stressed the move did not mean 47 people would lose their jobs.

ELDC has been operating a recruitment freeze, not replacing people as they have left their jobs, and some staff will take voluntary redundancy.

Mr Davie added compulsory job losses would probably be "in single figures".

The council is hoping to make most of its savings through improving efficiency rather than cutting frontline services, Mr Davie said.
