Plans to build a 4m swimming pool in a Lincolnshire town could be put on hold by the district council. West Lindsey District Council was planning to build the four-lane pool off Willingham Road in Market Rasen. The council transferred from Liberal Democrat to Conservative control after the local elections in May. The new administration now wants to build a larger leisure complex instead. Councillors are expected to vote on the proposals next week. 'Economic growth' The new complex could include a spa, tennis courts and a hotel. Some residents have said they would prefer a single swimming pool to be built rather than wait for a larger development. Councillor Bernard Theobald, leader of the district council, said it would be worth waiting for. "The people of Market rasen want a swimming pool but I think they want to see some economic growth as well and we can do that through tourism provision providing we get the offer right. "We have limited hotel facilities and I think they can be improved. It takes investment and belief... and I think we need to find people who will help us invest in that dream."
