Car parks shut for festive market
Christmas market
The market attracts tens of thousands of visitors
People in Lincoln are being reminded preparations for the Christmas Market are about to begin.

The hundreds of stalls, rides and coaches will mean most of the car parks in the Cathedral Quarter will be closed and many roads subject to restrictions.

While the market does not begin until 6 December, some closures are in force from Sunday to allow for setting up.

The city council said while the event should be a treat for visitors, it should not be a burden for residents.

Louise Robinson, events team leader for the council, said: "Local needs are considered at every stage of our planning and we work hard to achieve a balance between the needs of residents and those of organising an event of such scale and complexity.

"We understand that the market can be a disruption to people's daily lives and the tolerance of the local people who are inconvenienced by the event, but comply with its various restrictions, is greatly appreciated."

The car park on Langworthgate and all other city centre car parks are unaffected by the market.
