Vandals target historic cathedral
Graffiti at Lincoln Cathedral
Repair costs have reached about 5,000 to date
Staff at Lincoln Cathedral say vandals who are conducting a concerted campaign against the building have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

A spate of attacks has included racist graffiti, broken windows and excrement left on doorsteps.

The cathedral's verger, John Campbell, said the repair bill had so far reached just over 5,000.

Lincolnshire Police said the attacks were being investigated and appealed for any information.

"We've had graffiti, some anti-social behaviour, excrement left on doorsteps and urinating on doorsteps - it's just not very pleasant for people who use the building," said Mr Campbell.
