Thieves take overhead power lines
Thieves in Lincolnshire have stolen copper cable worth 60,000 from overhead power lines.

The cable, which can carry up to 11,000 volts, was taken in two lots, 50,000 worth from Susworth and 10,000 worth from Hardwick over the weekend.

Generators being used to carry out repair work were switched off to allow the thieves to make off with the cable.

Some wires have been left hanging and police are warning the public to take care if they come across the cables.

Police believe the same group of people is responsible for the thefts which have taken place at night in sparsely populated areas.

They are also appealing for any residents experiencing power cuts to get in touch as this could be an indication that another theft is taking place.
