Ward to be refurbished by spring
Work has begun to refurbish Skegness hospital's Scarborough ward, which was closed last year to save money.

The ward was shut in 2005, despite protests from campaigners, but East Lincolnshire NHS Primary Care Trust pledged to reopen it in the spring.

Managers have now said the renovation work will be completed in time for the opening at the end of March.

The Accident and Emergency and Outpatients' departments will also get a makeover as part of the work.

The trust closed the ward in November 2005 to try to reduce a 7m overspend.
