Speed camera vandals 'risk lives'
Vandals
Police think an organised gang may be behind the attacks
Road safety campaigners say vandals attacking speed cameras are ultimately putting lives at risk.

Altogether 10 units have been destroyed in Lincolnshire in the past 12 months.

The police say they fear it may be the work of an organised gang. The attacks include spraying the camera lenses with black paint.

Joanna Smith, of Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, stressed that the idea of the cameras is to keep people safe on the roads.

"This act of vandalism is only just putting motorists at even greater risk," she said.

"We put these cameras at sites where there is a history of problems and by vandalising these cameras you're putting further risk on motorists along these routes."
