Third attack on A444 speed camera
A Midlands speed camera previously targeted by an arsonist and a man with an angle grinder has been set on fire.

A burning tyre was placed over the Gatso camera on the A5-A444 Royal Redgate junction on the Warwickshire/ Leicestershire boundary, near Nuneaton.

The camera is thought to have been destroyed, causing damage estimated at 38,000, during the latest incident on Sunday morning.

Police are treating the attack as arson and appealing for witnesses.

Magistrates ordered a 27-year-old Lincolnshire man to pay 4,000 in compensation and perform 120 hours of community service after he admitted criminal damage to a camera on the site for an attack in 2003.

The camera is owned by the Warwickshire Casualty Reduction Partnership.
