Windmill ready to open to public
Moulton Mill
About 250,000 is needed to re-install the sails
The tallest windmill in the country will open to the public for the first time after a 900,000 renovation.

Fundraisers launched the appeal for the 100ft Moulton Mill in Lincolnshire in 1995. It was built in 1822 and will open to people at the end of the month.

Project leaders are hoping to raise an extra 250,000 to re-install the sails.

Project chairman Byron Hahn said: "We are putting back into operation something which is a part of our ancient heritage."

'National importance'

He added: "We expect it to be a tourist attraction not just locally but nationally."

The renovation has also created an education centre with webcam links.

Once the sails are re-installed, it will be the first time they have operated for more than 100 years.

Mr Hahn said: "The mill is of national importance because it is the tallest windmill in the country.

"Being such a grand structure, it should become quite a big tourist attraction for mill lovers."
