Historic windmill receives a lift
Sibsey Trader Windmill
The windmill was built in 1877
Work has begun to bring one of Lincolnshire's best known landmarks back into full working order.

The Sibsey Trader Windmill near Boston has been given a new set of sails worth 60,000 from English Heritage.

Five sails, which were up to 30 years old, were removed last August because of safety concerns at the Grade I listed site.

Project co-ordinator John Burditt said: "The mill has been part of Lincs' rich heritage for over 100 years."

Mill manager Ian Ansell, who runs the 74ft windmill on behalf of English Heritage, said: "This fabulous windmill is still such a vital part of the community, important not only as a working entity but as a museum exhibit too."

It was built in 1877, and is considered one of the best examples of a six-sail windmill in the country.

It supplies six types of flour, supplying Sibsey and surrounding villages directly.
