New council houses for district
A Lincolnshire district is building its first council houses for 25 years.

The government wants social housing to be in the hands of housing associations and private landlords.

But South Holland District Council has decided to build two semi-detached houses in Gosberton - and more will follow if they can be self-funding.

Council chiefs said the most effective way to tackle a shortage of affordable homes was for them to be placed in public ownership.
