Spanish dentists to fill the gaps
A primary care trust is interviewing candidates from Spain for vacant jobs in Lincolnshire.

Nine dentists were shortlisted following a recruitment campaign by West Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust.

There are dozens of vacancies throughout the county and a number of practices are keen to employ them.

The trust says if all the dentists are suitable, they intend to employ them all. It is hoped the successful candidates will start work by April.

Twenty Polish dentists recruited by the NHS to address a severe shortage in Devon and Cornwall, are due to start work soon.

The Department of Health has promised to recruit an extra 1,000 dentists by October 2005 after admitting that half of the UK population is not registered with a dental surgery because of a shortage of NHS dentists.
