A dental surgery in Leicester is taking on 2,000 extra patients in a move to meet the growing demand for NHS dentists. The practice on Fosse Road South has hired two new dentists and added two new surgery rooms.
Dr Amin Govani said: "We have taken on the dentists because of demand - we see a lot of NHS patients and we had to get additional manpower.
"A lot of dentists have moved over to private practice."
He added: "We are getting 125-200 new patients every month and we cannot cope with the demand."
The two new dentists will join in the new year to add to the existing staff of five.
Leicester South MP Parmit Singh Gill raised concerns about the lack of places at NHS dental surgeries during a debate in the House of Commons in early December.
