Plans to build a new 24m hospital in Spalding have hit a setback after the local council deferred a decision on giving it planning permission. It would replace the town's two existing hospitals and - after a long search - a site was selected for it on Pinchbeck Road.
But South Holland district councillors went against the planners' advice over fears for road safety in the area.
They said the present plans were far from satisfactory.
Further worries had also been raised that the site does not contain enough parking.
