Protests blow down turbine scheme
A company has pulled out of a project to build 14 wind turbines on the outskirts of a village in Lincolnshire.

Star Energy had said it would resubmit its proposals for near Welton after concern was raised by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the summer.

But bosses said they had now scrapped the scheme for good as they could not find any short-term solutions.

The MoD feared the scheme would affect radar systems. Residents also raised objections to the project.

Roland Wessel, chief executive of Star Energy, said: "A few months ago we received written objections from the Ministry of Defence with regards potential for the wind turbine project to interfere with radar.

"We spent some time with outside consultants looking at ways to mitigate these problems but didn't find any short-term solutions.

"As a result we have decided not to resubmit the planning application for the scheme."
