Alcohol-induced injuries are on the rise ahead of Christmas
Lincolnshire's casualty departments have noticed an increase in alcohol-related injuries ahead of Christmas.

This is one of their busiest times, but the traditional increase has started earlier than usual this festive period.

Hugh Robertson, TUC health and safety expert, said members working in bars, pubs and clubs are worried for their safety at this time of year.

He said: "It is becoming much worse unfortunately. We want people to go out and enjoy themselves."

But he added: "We have to bear in mind there are other people who are going to be working, and they also have to be able to enjoy Christmas and not in an accident and emergency unit."

Michelle Crouch, matron at Lincoln County Hospital, said this is a stressful time for staff.

They have support from security staff and the police if they experience any problems from patients and visitors.
