Better gritting service promised
Road gritters in Lincolnshire will be expanding their service this winter.

Following a reorganisation of the service, gritting lorries should be covering more roads than ever before.

More than 10 extra miles will be treated and for the first time, roads leading to all of the county's schools will also be gritted.

Lincolnshire County Council came in for criticism last year when many motorists complained that not enough was done to keep major routes clear.

The authority has responsibility for gritting and keeping clear around 1,700 miles of roads, and last winter spent an estimated 3m on the service.
