Speechley was jailed for 18 months

Councillor Speechley was sentenced to 18 months in jail earlier this year after being found guilty of misconduct in public office.

He had denied attempting to influence the route of a proposed bypass.

Speechley's solicitor, Liz Hart, has confirmed to BBC Radio Lincolnshire that he is to challenge his conviction and sentence.

The hearing will take place at the Appeal Court in London.

A date has yet to be fixed, but it is thought the case could be heard within the next month.
