Memorial dedicated to bomber crew
Stirling bombers
The Stirling bomber crashed in a field in Lincolnshire
A memorial to the crew of a downed World War II bomber is being unveiled at a farm in Lincolnshire.

The Stirling bomber was attacked by a Messerschmitt in April 1944 and crashed near Hill Top Farm in Caythorpe.

Four of the crew bailed out, but the pilot and three other crew members, who were based at RAF Wigsley near Lincoln, went down with the plane.

A plaque and plinth dedicated to the crew will be unveiled during a dedication ceremony on Wednesday.

The memorial will be unveiled by Group Captain Paul Colley, the Station Commander at RAF Cranwell, and David Theaker, who farms at Hill Top,

During the ceremony a bugler will sound the last post and planes from RAF Cranwell will perform a fly past.
