Child snatch convict sentenced
gaskin
Gaskin was serving five years at North Sea Camp Jail
An escaped inmate who went missing with his 10-year-old son after walking out of an open prison in Lincolnshire has been jailed for nine months.

Karl Gaskin, 31, left North Sea Camp jail, near Boston, on Christmas Day and then took his son to Cumbria.

He remained at large for three months until he was arrested on 26 March.

At Lincoln Crown Court Gaskin was ordered to serve the nine-month term concurrently with his existing five-year-sentence for grievous bodily harm.

Contact lost

His son was found soon after Gaskin's recapture at an address in North Lincolnshire.

At Lincoln Crown Court on Monday he admitted escape as a result of his walk-out.

He was not charged with abducting his son.

Gordon Aspden, mitigating, said Gaskin had been upset at losing contact with his son and eight-year-old daughter.
