Indoor skateboard park proposed

The project is considering an indoor facility
Plans for a skateboard park in Lincoln are being put back on the agenda.

Ben Sutton, 29, director of Lincoln Urban Sports Project, says the original plan for an outdoor park is being replaced with an indoor concept.

"It started as a project to build an outdoor park in 2002 but the purchase of the land fell through," he said.

"But now we are trying to encompass a whole range of facilities at one site, including a skate park and BMX track - but also climbing and archery."

Some Lincoln residents have objected to the outdoor skateboard park because of the noise and disruption it might cause.

"Having everything inside will be much safer," Mr Sutton said.

"I am involved with a lot of kids and they feel that adults are not giving them a chance or respecting their space.

He said the plans are being presented to business and community leaders on Friday.

A former grain warehouse in Lincoln was originally proposed as a location for the project, but the owner decided not to sell the site.
