Hospitals battle admission surge
Hospital bed
Dozens of new beds have been organised

All of the hospitals in Lincolnshire are still chronically short of beds, managers have warned.

An unusually high number of emergency admissions has pushed capacity to the limit which has a knock on effect.

Some non-urgent operations, such as varicose veins and hernia repairs are still being postponed.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said 50 extra beds have been found to cope with the situation but they are still on red alert.

Peter Howey from the trust, said: "Those beds are being used to cope with the extra emergencies we are receiving.

"We are still postponing some non-elective surgery and all across Lincolnshire the pressures continue."

Managers said there was no single reason for the surge in admissions.
