Wind farm 'threatens birds'

Environmentalists are concerned about the impact on wildlife
Environmental groups are concerned about plans for a new wind farm off the Lincolnshire coast.

The Government wants to erect 250 wind turbines in the Greater Wash.

It would be part of the largest wind farm in the world.

The proposed development is in a site of special scientific interest.

Connor Donnelly, from English Nature in Lincolnshire, said wildlife could be seriously affected.

He said: "The Wash and eastern coast of England is a very important migratory route for many bird species.

"There is also potential impacts on some of the animals that live on the sea bed."

The other sites identified by the government for future wind farms are in the Thames Estuary and Britain's north-west coast.
