| Thursday, 21 November, 2002, 15:31 GMT New wind turbine plans ![]() Residents often fear wind farms will spoil the area Plans have been announced to put up 30 wind turbines on the Lincolnshire coast. The green electricity company, Ecotricity, has put forward proposals for two wind farms. The company wants to erect 22 wind turbines near Louth and a further eight near Mablethorpe. Previous turbine schemes have met with severe local resistance. Heavily criticised The company says the 65-metre-high turbines offer the most efficient and quietest wind technology in the world. If the projects are approved, they will power more than 15,000 homes, around 30% of the East Lindsey District. Local people will be able to see the proposals for themselves and ask questions from the experts at a series of open days on December 3, 4, and 5. Plans by another company to build two wind farms at Bicker Fen near Boston and Deeping Saint Nicholas have been heavily criticised. Many people living near the proposed sites say the turbines will be a blight on the landscape and affect property prices. | See also: 17 Oct 02 | England 02 Oct 02 | England 15 Aug 02 | England Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top England stories now: Links to more England stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
