Families wait on safety tests
fire
The fire forced the evacuation of nearby homes
Residents in Kirton near Boston have spent a fifth night away from their homes following last week's fire at a tyre warehouse.

They have been asked to stay away until the results of safety checks are known.

A change of wind direction on Monday night led police to ask residents in the Edinburgh Drive and Kings Street areas to keep their windows and doors shut.

There are still pockets of fire burning at the warehouse and firefighters say they could be damping down for another fortnight.

Fire regulations

People were evacuated from their homes in the surrounding area over fears of asbestos particles in the smoke.

The 30 families affected have been told they must wait until the all clear is given.

Officers have revealed they were concerned about whether or not planning regulation conditions were being met at the site and had started talks with the owner.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
