Residents call for Melton bypass
Residents of Melton Mowbray say a bypass is needed to relieve traffic jams in the town.

Three roads out of the town - the A606, A607 and A6006 - meet on Norman Way, often causing delays as the town is located between the M1 and the A1.

The East Midlands Regional Assembly has called for construction of a Melton bypass sometime after 2011.

A petition calling for support for a bypass is being sent to Prime Minister Tony Blair.

County Council leader David Parsons has said the town "badly needs a bypass".
