Residents annoyed at young groups
Residents in a Leicestershire village are calling for action to stop large groups of teenagers gathering and drinking in the streets.

The young people gather in Whetstone on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Many residents complain their behaviour is intimidating, and that some have deliberately removed car wing mirrors.

The teenagers admit under-age drinking is a problem, but say they like to meet up with friends, and people should not assume they are out to cause trouble.

One girl said the majority of them just wanted to relax with their friends outside of school hours and did not want to annoy anyone.

But one woman living in Victoria Road said there had been instances of youngsters making a noise and scratching cars' paintwork.
