High visibility patrols will be carried out in villages south of Leicester in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour. Leics police have taken 160 calls this year from residents complaining about groups of youths causing a nuisance.
The new patrols will allow officers to disperse groups of two or more people if they are causing intimidation, harassment, alarm or distress.
The areas affected are Whetstone, Enderby, Narborough, Glen Parva, Cosby, Littlethorpe, Blaby and Countesthorpe.

Officers will patrol villages within the Blaby local policing unit and deal with individuals who persist in causing alarm and distress.
Blaby local policing unit's anti-social behaviour officer, Pc Alison Pledger, said officers are issuing on average three dispersal notices a day.
She said one person has been charged with breaking the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003.
Police in Blaby sent out more than 150 letters to parents or guardians of youths involved in anti-social behaviour in 2004.
Pc Pledger said: "We still ask parents and guardians to ensure that they know where their children are and what they are doing.
"If they don't know where their children are or what they are doing they can expect a visit from us."
