People living in an area of Leicester say they will fight a proposed flyover between the M1 and the M69 being built near their homes. Residents of the Hinckley Road area have said the flyover would dramatically reduce their house prices.
The plans are part of the M1 widening scheme and a link road with the M69 has been suggested to cut congestion.
Tony Turton from the Highways Agency said nothing would be decided until residents had been consulted.
'No good reason'
One resident, who did not want to be named said a flyover would make houses in the Hinckley Road area virtually impossible to sell.
He said: "The flyover would be right in the middle of residential housing.
"The residents can see no good reason for putting it in this area when just beyond the service station on the other side of the M1 are open fields and an industrial estate."
Highways Agency officials were meeting with residents to debate the plans on Monday evening.
Mr Turton added: "The recommendations are to provide a free-flow link between the M1 and M69 to cut congestion but apart from that there's nothing set.
"How we take it forward very much depends on this type of process (consulting with residents)."
Work on the link road between the motorways is expected to start in 2010.
